GTA 6 Record Sourced, not guessed

GTA 6 Record / Answer

GTA 6 trailer song: every confirmed track, by trailer

The confirmed songs from GTA 6's two trailers and its Netflix Extended Look, with the artist, the scene, and how each one was confirmed.

Checked 2026-09-15

The short answer

Rockstar has confirmed one trailer song directly, and press outlets have identified the rest by ear. Trailer 1 uses Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road.” Trailer 2 leads with The Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together,” plus three short radio snippets. The Netflix Extended Look adds thirteen more tracks across its 26 minutes. None of this is an official Rockstar tracklist, so it is presented here with each source named.

Why “confirmed” needs a careful definition here

Rockstar has not published an official soundtrack list for GTA 6. That means every song below falls into one of two categories, and this page keeps them separate.

  • Officially confirmed. The Trailer 1 song was confirmed by Tom Petty’s own official website, which counts as a primary source since it comes directly from the rights holder, not a guess by a journalist.
  • Press reported. Every other song on this page was identified by a music or gaming outlet listening closely to the trailer or the Extended Look and matching the audio to a known track. This is common and usually reliable, but it is not the same as Rockstar publishing its own tracklist.

Both categories are useful. Neither should be mistaken for the other.

Trailer 1, December 2023

Trailer 1 uses a single song for its entire runtime.

SongArtistYearStatus
Love Is a Long RoadTom Petty1989Officially confirmed

“Love Is a Long Road” comes from Tom Petty’s 1989 solo debut album, Full Moon Fever. Tom Petty’s official site posted about the placement on the same day the trailer released, noting that it followed his earlier appearance in GTA: San Andreas with “Runnin’ Down a Dream.” The song’s lyrics about doing right on a long road fit the trailer’s tone, and Spotify reported streams of the track rose by roughly 36,979 percent in the week after the trailer went live.

Trailer 2, May 2026

Trailer 2, released 6 May 2026, uses one lead song for most of its runtime, plus three short radio snippets during a single driving scene. All four were identified by NME, not confirmed directly by Rockstar or the artists.

Talkin’ to Myself AgainTammy Wynette1987Brief radio snippet during a driving scenePress reported

“Hot Together” underscores a montage that introduces both protagonists, covering romance, a gunfight, and a helicopter chase through Leonida. NME placed it starting around the 1:04 mark. The three radio snippets play only for a few seconds each as protagonist Jason drives, and NME noted the Zenglen and 5 Etwal track reflects Florida’s real-world Haitian community, which fits Leonida’s Florida-inspired setting.

The Netflix Extended Look, August 2026

The Netflix Extended Look is a 26-minute gameplay preview that premiered on 27 August 2026, built from PlayStation 5 footage. It is longer than either trailer and carries far more music. GameRant catalogued every song with a timestamp. None of these are officially confirmed by Rockstar, so all are listed as press reported.

This is a wide spread of genres in a short amount of footage, from 1970s soft rock and glam metal to modern dembow and house music. That range says more about the tone Rockstar is going for than any single genre would.

What this tells you about GTA 6’s music direction

Even without an official tracklist, a pattern shows up across all three pieces of footage. GTA 6 leans on real songs from real decades, mostly the 1970s through the 2020s, rather than only recent chart hits. Trailer 1 and much of the Extended Look favour older tracks with an emotional or nostalgic pull, while the driving and action scenes lean on faster, more upbeat music. That mirrors how past GTA games have used licensed music, mixing eras rather than sticking to one.

What is still not known

  • No official Rockstar soundtrack or tracklist has been published.
  • No confirmation of in-game radio stations or their lineups.
  • No confirmation of a third trailer, so there is nothing to say about music in footage that does not exist yet.
  • The exact original release year for “Skrilla” by Kodak Black is inconsistent across music databases, so it is not stated as a fixed fact here.

How this page stays honest

Every song above is either confirmed by the artist’s own channel or traced to a named press outlet that watched the footage and documented a timestamp. No song appears on this page unless one of those two things is true. If Rockstar publishes an official soundtrack list, or a third trailer arrives with new music, this page will be updated to match.

Common questions

What song plays in the first GTA 6 trailer?
Love Is a Long Road by Tom Petty, from his 1989 album Full Moon Fever. Tom Petty's own official site confirmed the placement on the day the trailer released in December 2023.
What song plays in the GTA 6 Trailer 2?
Hot Together by The Pointer Sisters, a 1986 dance-pop track, carries most of the trailer's runtime. Three more songs play briefly as radio snippets during a driving scene: Everybody Have Fun Tonight by Wang Chung, Child Support by Zenglen with 5 Etwal, and Talkin' to Myself Again by Tammy Wynette.
Is there a full GTA 6 soundtrack list?
Not an official one from Rockstar. What exists is a list of songs identified in the two trailers and the Netflix Extended Look, confirmed either by an artist's own official channel or by music press who watched the footage closely.
How were the GTA 6 trailer songs identified?
The Trailer 1 song was confirmed directly by Tom Petty's official website. The rest were identified by music press, mainly NME for Trailer 2 and GameRant for the Netflix Extended Look, who matched the audio to known tracks and gave timestamps.
Will GTA 6 have licensed radio stations like past GTA games?
Rockstar has not confirmed a radio station list for GTA 6. Past Rockstar games have shipped with in-game radio stations built from licensed music, but nothing about GTA 6's in-game radio lineup has been officially detailed yet.
